we all live on one planet…

In 2019 I was excited about re-branding Bouncin' Betty Strings. I came up with a really great packaging design that used a high end plastic envelope. Although it looked amazing, something wasn't sitting well with me. I couldn't get over the fact that I was adding more "throwaway" plastic to the environment so I stalled the project.

In early 2020, scientists found a new species of crustacean at the bottom of the ocean's floor. It had plastic in its stomach. Because of the discovery, they decided to include the name "plastic" in the name. They named the species Eurythenes plasticus.

20,000 feet down at the bottom of the ocean floor and it had plastic in its stomach.

Reading that article was the final straw for me.

As humans, we've simply gone too far as a species without accepting our true responsibility to this planet - and our larger impact on its inhabitants.

In 2024 (after years of searching), I finally found a company that could manufacture our packaging with as little packaging material as possible. Our new Betty Bags are a simple kraft paper bag with the absolute thinnest polymer inside for sealing your strings against moisture. You can help by recycling the metal in these strings and recycling the paper in this packaging.

Let's do this together.

We only have one planet.
